Blog posts are a great way to get recognized within your community and share your voice. Here are the top 10 reasons you should love writing blog posts.

Anyone can make one:
For better or worse, anyone can write a blog post about anything they want. Everyone has a voice and the best voices will rise to the top.

The writer can show their personality:
In blog posts, the writer has more leeway to add in their voice and personality than other types of writing.

Blogs are a great form of mass communication:
You can help people, learn new things, entertain your audience-the possibilities are endless and amazing. Blogging opens up all of these to a very wide audience.

You can make money:

Get the right blog going and you can make a lot of money through advertising and sponsored posts.

It allows people to craft better thoughts:
Instead of reading haphazard, uneducated Facebook statuses, it's much better to see people's thought process in a well-written blog post.

You can establish a community:
Blogging allows you to connect with other individuals who share the same interests. Sharing ideas and opinions within your community helps establish yourself as a thought leader.

Good for SEO:
Keeping content on your site fresh and relevant, you can use your blog to boost the search engine ranking (SEO) of your site and your business.

It brings people back to your site:

If your blog is strong enough and updated regularly, people will come back looking for more and bring traffic back to your site as well.

It's free:
It costs you a grand total of zero dollars to post to the blog, so if you have something to say, there's nothing to stop you.

You can establish yourself as a thought leader:

A blog is a great place for your original thoughts, and it can be a wonderful way to show off your individuality. If people like your ideas, you can become a thought leader in your industry!

A common response from conflicted couples about intimacy is that intimacy is about sex. Or that sharing our time and energy with others is not about intimacy. Communication and intimacy go hand and hand, and couples need to make sure they are giving their partner their fair share. Fair share is subjective, but if your partner is saying please spend some time with me I miss you, then that’s probably a good indicator you are not giving your partner enough intimacy, or possibly, someone or something other than your partner is meeting your intimacy needs.

I recall a husband who was complaining he wanted more sex in the relationship and his wife’s response was, “well come home and talk to me and I’ll be glad to have sex with you.” The husband then laughed and said to me, “she’s just mad because it’s racing season and I go straight from work to my buddies house and we work on our cars.” The wife went on and said “And he stays out till one in the morning, drinks too much, and then comes home wanting sex. Well I’d like to talk a little first, maybe tell you how my day went, hear how yours went. Then snuggle a little.” The husband’s response was “I don’t have all night for that.” What the wife is asking for is some intimacy. Why doesn’t the husband need the intimacy? Because, he got those needs met when he talked with his buddy about work, possible promotions, the kids, the finances, and his dreams to buy a new race car. The husband feels affirmed and heard, all that’s missing now is the sex without the intimacy, and the wife says “No thank you!”

Intimacy can also be in the form of other friendships like a best girlfriend for mom who talks with her all day about the kids and their husbands. Not that this couple should not have friends, however, not at the expense of poor intimacy with their partner. Intimacy can be enjoyed in a lot of ways. Think of all the movie lines where a girl or guy says “I think I’m in love, they stimulate me in ways no one else has, intellectually, physically, spiritually, I really enjoy being around them.” That is communication and intimacy all rolled into one. Next week I’ll share a list of intimacy venues that couples can explore to enhance their communication and intimacy in a complimentary way.
Blessing,
Stephen
